Istanbul Archaeological Museum
This extraordinary museum is situated in the Eminonu district of Istanbul, Turkey. It is basically an accumulation of three archeological museums- Archeological Museum, Museum of the Ancient Orient and Museum of Islamic Art. It displays a wide range of Roman, Turkish and Hellenistic artifacts.

The Bosphorus
The Bosphorus is a strait that joins Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea and separates the continents of Europe and Asia. Its length is of about thirty-two kilometers. Cemberlitas Hamam
Cemberlitas Hamam is located on the Cemberlitas Square on Divanyolu Street and is basically a historical spot for Turkish Baths. It was built by Mimar Sinan in the year 1584.

Topkapi Palace
This magnificent palace was the residence of the Ottoman Sultans for around four-hundred years. It contains many Muslim archeological remains including the Prophet Muhammad’s cloak and sword. The palace comprises of four major courtyards and several minor ones. It displays a wide range of Ottoman jewels, sculptures, Islamic Calligraphic Manuscripts and weapons.

Egyptian Bazaar
It is located at the southern end of the Galata Bridge near the Eminonu ferry docks. This market place contains a variety of spices, dried fruits, nuts and many other edible items.

Hagia Sophia Museum
It is a mosque, considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture. Its interior has a marvelous display of 30 million gold tiles. It was a mosque from 29 May 1453 until 1931, when it was secularized. Being constructed in the 6^th century, it has a flat dome.

A latest worldwide survey by Hogg Robinson Group (HRG) throws light on the fact that the cost of a hotel room in Istanbul has risen by 37% in the past year. The weakening of the Turkish lira has had some effect on these prices, but if measured in pounds sterling the rise is still a notable 25%.

HRG attributes the cause behind this change to the fact that Istanbul is strengthening its foothold in the world as a business centre and also that the travellers in the city give preference to five-star properties in comparison to budget hotels due to safety reasons.

Of the 50 cities surveyed for the hotel report, 33 locations experienced a year-on-year increase in hotel rates. In Asia-Pacific, they rose by an average of 7%. Rates dropped the furthest in Cape Town and Abu Dhabi. The reason behind this drop in rates is the fact that in Cape Town a large number of hotels were built for the 2010 World Cup. Moscow is still the most expensive city in which to spend the night, with an average room rate of £260.68 ($425).

“Overall, our research shows that global hotel rates are increasing and have been exhibiting signs of growth,” said Margaret Bowler, director of global hotel relations at HRG adding, “Looking ahead, we anticipate that hotel rates will continue to rise if the economy improves.”
